Loyal Order Of Police, Inc.Please remember we are not only for officers that are laid-off or facing a layoff. We are here for all of our brother and sister officers, regardless of agency, rank, union, race, sex or any other factor.
WE ARE ALL ONE HERE!
Additional Information
We also participated in the Rally for the PBA in West New York, where 22 officers are facing a layoff. We want to prevent others from becoming unemployed, which will leave our streets unsafe. This Rally was a huge success and averted a layoff. Crime is on the rise, not tumbling. One officer short is one too many. One life lost, is one too many. These are tough times and there are tough decisions to be made, but not at the expense of officer or citizen safety or both.
There are classes of new recruits and alternate routes* in the police academies across the state for the last three years, while trained officers with families are sitting home unemployed. This should not be happening. We were told the Rice Bill has flaws/loopholes that have been expolited to avoid utilizing it. We were told three years ago amendments were coming, but we feel there needs to be more done to protect those that protect you and your families. The age, training, re-hiring and title areas of laid-off officers must be protected and make the re-employment process simple and put them at the top, before any other persons can be hired off the street or from another agency not facing or before a layoff.
*To the best of our knowledge Alternate Routes Program had finally been stopped about 6-9 months ago.
Member Benefits
Our members are close friends and stand together to properly protect ourselves in the event of a layoff or threatened layoff. We are currently working on developing a data base of existing job openings, as well as, attempting to get hiring agencies to utilize our list of laid-off members to assist with their staffing needs.
We are a new organization and trying to get the word out. We have a brochure to distribute if you would like to see it. We will make every attempt to deliver these and other services as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
